Texting Where the Record Lives
For a lot of leads, a text gets a faster answer than a call or an email. The problem for most sales teams is that texting happens on a rep’s personal phone or in a separate app, so the conversation never reaches the CRM. Pipeline CRM solves the first half by letting reps text from inside the record through a connected dialer. Kixie is one of the dialers Pipeline CRM supports, so the texts go out from the rep’s Kixie business number and land back on the person’s activity feed.
Turn It On
Start with the Kixie integration installed in Pipeline CRM, which the Pipeline CRM call logging page walks through. Then open the integration’s SMS Settings tab, check Enable SMS Support, and choose activity categories for incoming and outgoing texts. Each rep adds their work number in Pipeline CRM under My Profile.
Two requirements come from Pipeline CRM’s own documentation. You need a valid 10DLC SMS campaign registered with Kixie, which is the carrier registration for business texting in the United States. And Pipeline CRM allows only one SMS integration at a time, so switching to Kixie means turning off any other texting tool there.
How Reps Use It
A rep opens a person, clicks the SMS icon in the Contact Info tile, and types. The messenger window shows delivery status and timestamps, and the reply appears in the same window. Under My Profile, Notifications, each rep picks how to hear about new texts: in-app, email, or mobile. If a person has both a work and a mobile number, Show settings lets the rep choose which one gets the message. Every text, in both directions, is added to the activity feed with the message, timestamp, direction, and number.
Where Automation Comes In
Texting inside Pipeline CRM is one-to-one, and Pipeline CRM does not support bulk sending. Automated texts run through Kixie instead. In Zapier, pair a Pipeline CRM trigger with a Kixie action. New Person can send a first-touch text from the owner’s Kixie number with Send SMS. Moved Deal can send a check-in when a deal reaches a stage you pick. Send a Team SMS sends from a shared inbox that everyone on a team can see and answer in PowerCall. See Kixie Team SMS for how shared inboxes work.
For more than one message, Kixie’s Add to Cadence action enrolls the person in a Cadence of timed texts and calls, with templates, target hours in the lead’s local time zone, and harassment rules that cap messages per day. A call outcome can stop the Cadence once the lead responds.
Keep It Compliant and Personal
Business texting has rules, and the 10DLC registration Pipeline CRM requires is part of meeting them. Inside Kixie, Cadence harassment rules cap how many texts and calls a contact gets in a day, and SMS templates keep automated messages consistent while still letting reps customize the wording. A good first text is short, says who is writing and why, and gives the lead an easy way to reply. After that, the rep takes the conversation from the record like any other thread.
One Thread, One Record
The point of all this is a complete record. When a rep hands a deal to a colleague, the texts are on the activity feed with the calls and emails, not on someone’s personal phone. Kixie text messaging covers the rest of the texting toolkit, including SMS templates in PowerCall. For every other way the two tools work together, see the Kixie and Pipeline CRM integration overview.
