Pipedrive Sequences the Follow-Up. A Rep Still Makes Every Call.
Pipedrive is built around the next activity: close one, schedule another, keep the deal moving. On the Growth plan and above, Sequences chain up to 10 email and activity steps per deal or lead, and Automations can create the next call activity the instant a deal changes stage. But a call activity is a reminder, not a dial. Pipedrive’s own knowledge base says the CRM has no built-in calling, and texting is further away still: there is no SMS action in Automations and no SMS channel anywhere in the product. So the multichannel sequence most Pipedrive teams actually run is an email sequence plus a wall of overdue call activities.
Kixie automates the phone half. A Pipedrive event enrolls the contact in a Kixie cadence, calls fire from the record owner’s number at scheduled intervals, texts land between the calls, and every touch logs back to Pipedrive as an activity your Filters and Automations can act on. Here are three recipes worth copying.
Recipe 1: Stage-Change Re-Engagement
Trigger: a deal moves to Proposal Sent. A Deal Matching Filter trigger enrolls the person in a ten-day cadence: call on day one, text on day two, call again on day four. Because Kixie’s webhook sync mirrors Pipedrive ownership, every call places from the deal owner’s Kixie number and the day-two text comes from the same number that called, so the prospect experiences one persistent rep rather than a rotating call center. Writeback: a Connected disposition logs as a Pipedrive activity and pulls the contact out of the cadence, and a Pipedrive Automation watching for that disposition advances the deal stage and sends the native follow-up email. Kixie got the conversation; Pipedrive handles everything that happens after it.
Recipe 2: The Aging-Deal Rescue
Trigger: a Pipedrive Filter catches deals with no activity in fourteen days, the same rotting deals your pipeline view already flags. Matching contacts enroll in a slow-drip rescue cadence, two calls and a text spread across a week, worked between hotter tasks. Every attempt logs to the person and mirrors to the linked organization and deal, so the deal timeline shows the rescue effort even when nobody answers, and Insights can report on it. When a conversation restarts, the disposition exits the contact from the cadence while an Automation updates the deal and notifies the owner. And when the event is a brand-new lead instead of an old deal, the same enrollment mechanics power the instant-response motion covered on the Pipedrive speed to lead page.
Recipe 3: The Disposition Branch
Every cadence step writes a disposition activity to the Pipedrive record, and that is where sequences stop being linear. Build Pipedrive Filters on the disposition and let Automations branch on the outcome: Connected exits the cadence and advances the stage, Voicemail fires Pipedrive’s native send-email action so the prospect who just heard your voice finds a matching message in their inbox, and No Answer simply lets the cadence keep running. The cadence supplies the persistence; Pipedrive supplies the logic.
The Honest Division of Labor
Kixie cadences are calls and SMS only. They never send email, and that is by design: Pipedrive already owns email through your synced inbox, Sequences, Automations, and Campaigns, with templates and deliverability in place. The working pattern is always the same sentence: Kixie handles the calls and texts, and your Pipedrive Automation sends the email. Enrollment deserves the same honesty. Pipedrive Automations have no start-cadence action, so entry runs through Kixie’s Pipedrive webhook sync or a Zapier trigger like Deal Matching Filter, and it requires Kixie Professional. For the texting channel on its own, from two-way inbox to auto-SMS, see SMS automation for Pipedrive.
Before You Build
Cadences run on Kixie Teams and Queues, so plan a one-time team and queue setup, and have your admin add Kixie’s custom Pipedrive activity types so dispositions and texts log as first-class activities. Feed cadences a steady stream of event-driven enrollments rather than a bulk list; for blitzing a large list at multi-line speed, use the Kixie power dialer for Pipedrive and let the cadence own the follow-ups on whoever picks up. Connection setup, activity logging, and contact matching are covered in the Pipedrive integration overview. Once connected, your Pipedrive events do the enrolling, your reps do the talking, and the overdue-activity wall stops growing.
