The Gap Einstein Activity Capture Left Open
Ask Salesforce admins how activity logging is going and you will hear a version of the same complaint, posted verbatim on r/salesforce: “EAC has solved our Email & Meeting logging, but Calls is the biggest gap.” Einstein Activity Capture syncs email and calendar event data from a connected Microsoft or Google account, and it does that well. Calls are not in its capture set. What remains for calls is manual: a rep opens the record, clicks Log a Call, and types what happened, or leans on Sales Dialer, which Salesforce has scheduled for retirement, or on a separately licensed Salesforce Voice contact center setup. Under real call volume, manual logging loses every time. Reps skip it, activity reports drift from reality, and pipeline reviews run on whatever got typed.
Kixie closes the gap the way EAC closed it for email: the log becomes a side effect of the activity. Every call, text, disposition, and recording lands in Salesforce as a properly typed Task on the right Lead or Contact the moment the call ends, then syncs upward to the Account and Opportunity.
How Kixie Finds the Right Lead or Contact
DirectSync Logs to the Exact Record You Dialed
Click-to-call from a Lead, Contact, or Opportunity page, a Salesforce list view, or the task queue uses DirectSync: the call logs to that exact record, with no phone number lookup in the path. That is what keeps power dialing through Salesforce list views perfectly attributed, even across hundreds of dials a day.
Search Matching and the Contact Over Lead Rule
Inbound calls and manually dialed numbers are matched by phone number against your Salesforce records and logged to the most recently referenced match. When the same number lives on both a Lead and a Contact, Kixie logs to the Contact. The preference is deliberate and documented: the Contact is the further-qualified object, usually attached to an Account and live Opportunities, so activity lands on the record your team is actually working. A stated rule beats a mystery. Admins know the cleanup is deduping numbers, not auditing every call.
Unknown Numbers Become Leads, and History Survives Conversion
This is the section only a Salesforce page can have, because only Salesforce splits people into Leads and Contacts. When a call comes from a number with no Salesforce match, Kixie can auto-create a Lead, not a Contact and not an orphaned note. The unknown caller enters at the top of the object model, where lead assignment rules, queues, and your qualification process take over. Every call and text logged on that Lead is preserved through Lead to Contact conversion, so the activity history that justified converting the record travels with it instead of resetting to zero. The behavior is toggleable in the Kixie dashboard under Manage, then Account, then Create Contacts.
The Task Type Setting That Makes Calls Reportable
One admin step decides whether your call data becomes reporting fuel or mush, and it deserves to be said plainly: the Task Type field must be made visible through Salesforce Field Accessibility. Hidden, and calls log as typeless Tasks while dispositions land as mere notes. Visible, and every Kixie call logs as a properly typed Task, with dispositions recorded as closed Tasks carrying the activity type Disposition.
Closed Tasks with a predictable type are what Salesforce reporting and automation are built on. Activity reports chart outcomes by rep, list views filter on last disposition, and Flows react to a single click in the dialer: a voicemail outcome fires a follow-up email template, a connected demo updates the Opportunity and creates the next task. Reps can even schedule that next Salesforce task from inside the PowerCall dialer for Salesforce while the call is still fresh.
Roll-Up to the Account and Opportunity
Kixie logs at the Lead or Contact level first, then syncs the activity upward to the related Account and Opportunity. A manager reviewing a deal sees every conversation that touched it without opening each Contact, and Account timelines show the full history across a buying committee. Recordings attach to every logged call task with included cloud storage, so coaching from the Salesforce record is two clicks, not a hunt through a separate portal.
Setup is a one-click connection from the Kixie dashboard with a Salesforce admin login, on Salesforce Professional edition or higher with API access. From there, explore the full Salesforce integration for texting, automation recipes, and list view dialing. EAC finished the job for email and meetings. This finishes it for calls.
